Today’s Dental Torque Wrench

The world of Dental Implants is filled with a wide variety of dental implants, abutments, fixation screws etc.

It is important to choose these products wisely, thus ensuring high quality results for you and your patients.

The accompanying tools are just as important and vital in the implant procedure and they too need to be chosen wisely as well as having a clear knowledge of how to use them.

Which leads us to the topic of discussion: The Dental Torque Wrench.

The dental torque wrench (aka restorative torque wrench) is used to apply in a precise manner a fixation screw, abutment or anything else needing to be attached to the dental implant.

Since it is imperative for the success of the dental implant procedure that the abutment remains in place for an extended amount of time, it is that much more important to use the right tool to fasten the dental parts together.

Even when fastening the abutment, for example, this needs to be done correctly. Fasten it too tightly and you’ll risk damaging or even breaking the abutment. Fasten it too little, it can come undone and we all know what unfortunately can happen from there.

The torque wrench essentially ensures the success, or failure, of the dental implant procedure.

In order to know what much to fasten the abutment or other parts should be specified by the company purchased from.

There are several types of dental torque wrenches

One of the most popular (and perhaps basic of them) being the Beam torque wrench.

The Beam Torque Wrench tend to be more consistent with it’s calibration in general. There are beam torque with a dial indicator that are the most exact. Due to sterilization with steam, the process over many times can cause stress on the material.

It is extremely important when searching the market for Dental Torque Wrenches to pick ones that are of high quality materials and are produced by a credible manufacturing company, in order to avoid unfortunate situations such as rust or any malfunction with the tools themselves, which naturally will jeopardize you and you’re patients experience.
